Anti-Counterfeiting measures are probably a good idea because fake slabs are becoming more common it seems.
NGC comes out with the Edge View holder and then PCGS follows suit. NGC reintroduces the "Black Slab" and PCGS comes back with this. Can't they think of anything on their own? Chris
LOL, it's funny because I generally think that PCGS is preferred over NGC, especially when it comes to competitive registry crowd, but lately I've been seeing a lot more love for NGC here on CT. Maybe the tides are turning? Personally, I like them both. I guess its cool they are both doing these retro holders, but nothing tops an old NGC no-line fattie in my book.
+1 How long before they have a "symbol" for eye appeal on their slabs to mimic the star at NGC? If that ASE above is what they look like...then...ick, very unattractive.
For the record, I own both NGC & PCGS slabs because it's all about the coin. What flavor Kool-Aid do you prefer?
Yes, I guess that is true. If there is a coin I were to really like in an NGC holder, I'd probably still buy it…and send it to PCGS...
this debate is so overplayed and meaningless. but. in the spirit of acknowledging that it is a necessary evil because some of our coins require a reliable grade, i think that NGC is far superior as a TPG company. it is just a side benefit that their edgeview holders look spectacular. if NGC is koolaid of a non-determined flavor, then ANACS and PCGS are "purple drink". NGC is classic coke.
I am selling all my older NGC holdered Jefferson nickels for PCGS slabs. I hate how they look and I feel they are overgraded. I can barely give them away on ebay. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I buy the coin not the slab either or is fine for me I like the star on NGC I like the easier resale on pcgs why I send to them first if I don't agree with the grade I send to NGC personally I like the edge views and the black backgrounds the best but regArdless I buy the coin not the slab and if it's in anacs it gets sent to pcgs or NGC
Silver foil PCGS label...what's next the invisible label? I can already see an ebay listing 10 years from now: PCGS slab w/ rainbow toning label
