So I just got the results of my ANACS Insider free submissions (well, I paid for ONE, and two were free...) and I plan to sell them, but I'm wondering what some of the coin dealers and collectors would value these varieties at. First Variety: 1942 Proof (Type 1) Jefferson Nickel WDDR-003 Listed in The Best Of The Jefferson Nickel Doubled Die Varieties (page 45-46) Overall Rarity: Very Rare Category: Significant Values: PR60 - $100 PR63 - $150 PR65 - $250 I have TWO that will be coming back as PR66. Keeping in mind that they'll be in ANACS holders, but the variety will be on the slab, so...what would you price this at? And I also do realize that prices in guides are seldom accurate. There are NO auction records of this variety that I can find, just a couple old threads here and on the CS boards and CoinCommunity boards. Second Variety: 1962 Proof Lincoln Cent DDO-008 Beautiful, satiny coin. Will be coming back in a PR67RD holder. As far as the ANACS Pop Reports go, this has to be a Top Pop coin (and, from what I can tell, is the only DDO-008 ever graded. There are two listed as "Doubled Die Obverse" in a general way, highest grade of PR65. I'm not saying that means it's super expensive, I'm just saying that's what the facts are.) No posted values, no auction results. I am thinking this might be a "take really good pictures, start a week long auction and see where it goes" kind of listing. Where would you value this, and where would you start the auction?
You could always just bypass all that ebay junk, I'll send you $100, and you send me the coins! Just kidding! I don't have a clue how to price them, but best of luck and keep us posted. I bet they are quite a site!
Wonderful! I'd forgotten about that site... They list the 1962 DDO-008 at $50 in PR67. That seems to be a great place to start.
Coppercoins says $50 for PF67 with cameo & deep cam higher. Maybe you should do a 30 day a good deal higher with a best offer. If the right person comes along, looking for that grade, you might get double the $50. Who knows.
I think jay's suggestion is good - BIN/BO. You never know. I had an almost full (46 coins) roll of BU 1960 P Roosevelt Dimes listed on eBay for $105 BIN. No takers (full BU rolls sell for $125.) Took it off, started it at $125 BIN/BO, and someone bought it for $125. Go figure. Didn't even use the BO. Sorry, I had a screenshot of coppercoins.com on here, then thought maybe someone would object (copyright, etc.) The quote I wanted to use from it was that "Cameo and deep cameo examples increase the value of proof die varieties substantially."
Some folks are funny on ebay. I had a football card once that had an opening of $2.99 with BIN for the becket value of $10. It only had around 2 hours left with no bids & someone used BIN. Probably could of had it for $2.99. Go figure. Good luck!
