I've noticed that wizardcoinsupply will every now and then have the leather bound edition of this book in stock for $90. Kind of steep! I was on there today and they had the hardcover in stock for $60 new!!! I ordered it immediately. It only shows the leather bound edition in stock now, but if you are wanting it new, I would suggest watching wizard regularly. Just wanted to let everyone know. This book is hard to find for a decent price. Seems like they go for $60 or more used on ebay.
I wonder if the pictures are any better in the leather bound addition. I like the book, but a few of the pictures are just tough to see.
I've read that too. It's really difficult to track down the 3rd edition for a reasonable price so I figured the 4th will do. I haven't heard anything about the pictures in the leather bound edition.
Hi Mark, I have a copy of the leather bound 4th edition as well as the 3rd, so I may be able to shed a little light. But first a quick word about the deluxe, the term "leather binding" should be used lightly for this book. In this case, the deluxe is only $30 more than the standard, which is not usually the case, so the binding, is low quality imitation leather and the book itself is not very rare. The picture quality of the deluxe 4th edition is far inferior to that of the 3rd edition. Now whether the deluxe editions pictures are better than the standard 4th, I cant say, but I don't believe there is a difference. Either way the 4th's plates are not very good. If available, you will find the 3rd edition better in many ways to the 4th. In fact, I sold my standard 4th edition after I obtained the 3rd, becuase I never used it anyone. Later, I got a copy of the deluxe 4th, party becuase I am a book nut and partly, becuase I wanted to have access to a 4th should I need to check on a quote, answer a question on the forum, or for the 3 new die marriages listed, which could be found online anyway. In other words, you will not regret buying the 3rd! I payed $100 and am very happy, I'd probably pay $150 if I had to. It is much more compact, has better paper quality, and fewer errors. Either way you will want to print out updated rarity ratings, found here, http://www.busthalfprices.com/cbrr.php, as both editions are either editions do not have the most recent ratings. By the way if anyone happens upon a deluxe 3rd, I'd love to hear about it. Sorry for the ramble, Jesse
I've been hearing the same thing , that the 3rd is superior to the 4th Edition . I just ordered Petersons' book on early halves , but the 3rd edition is on my radar .
Is a book I'm also lacking and is very high on my want list I also heard the 3rd is the one to get just haven't found one yet
I guess I will see what the fourth is like, and if I want to get the third edition I can sell the fourth when I find one. Looking at ebay I would be able to sell the fourth for at least what I paid.
The 4th isn't bad if you don't mind grainy pics . It does give enough information to attribute Busties , but if the pics were better it would be even easier .
