You'll go crazy looking at the Canadian Provincial strikes, including 1858-59 of Canada... There are die cracks, doubled elements and other die varieties in almost every coin...
So very true ! *but their is a few date+Provincial coins that are worth a your time in this grade to have graded. But with all die variety it's ether your for you set.Few get a lot money after being graded, unless its a very rare one. Some American are buy them in hopes this will change.
If you can get your hands on a copy, the Griffin reprints are an excellent source of information. Monograph #4 is what you want for maritime coinage. http://www.charltonpress.com/NumismaticsBook.asp?v_ISBN=088968-313-1# A bit of a warning however, with Monograph #1 in this series. There was a mix-up during the publication process - the pictures do NOT match the descriptions. However, the descriptions alone are very well done. http://www.charltonpress.com/NumismaticsBook.asp?v_ISBN=088968331X
