Are we in the first Century AD today? Here is a bronze prutah ca. 9-11 AD. It was struck under the Roman procurator in Judaea, Marcus Ambibulus. This coin was given to me in 1965 by the woman that raised me (not my mother).
Awesome => it's next-century day!! (good thinking, Collect89) Sadly, I'm at work so I don't have access to my coins, but I'll post a couple of 1st century AD's when I got home (after the bar) ... *yikes* => Super-Bowl weekend!! (yeessssssss) ... I've already booked-off Monday (*sweet*)

Not Rome! This is one of the Claudian bronzes struck in the Iberian peninsula. http://www.cointalk.com/threads/the-western-mints-of-claudius.213506/
Without a doubt you are correct. I miss typed the ID from my catalogue which identifies the mint as a Spanish mint. Reading through the CT thread you posted and the subsequent Forum thread identified on that thread, it is most definitely not Rome mint. The coin presented by cliff_marsland on Forum's thread appears to have an obverse die match to my coin. Regardless, thank you for pointing out my mistake.
Don't consider it a mistake. Most people aren't even aware of the existence of branch mints during the reign of Claudius. Nice coin, btw.
Thanks for the compliment. I know how much I spent on this coin, but I wonder about it's worth in the market place. It is one of my favorite coins, especially from the First Century.
My other 1st. century coin.. Pontius Pilate gave the order to crucify Christ... Pontius Pilate Ae Prutah Obv. Lig( Tiberius Caesar, year 16=29/30 AD.) Libation ladle( simpulum).. Rev. Juila the Queen, three bound ears of grain, the outer two droop. 16mm x 2.21g. Hendin 1341
Awesome coins, gentlemen ... hmmmm, where to start? KINGS of COMMAGENE Antiochos IV Epiphanes Æ28 AD 38-72 Diameter: 28 mm Weight: 15.57 grams Obverse: Diademed and draped bust right Reverse: Scorpion within wreath Reference: RPC I 3854; AC 199 (obv. legend) Other: 12h … earthen brown patina, rubbed on the high points, two long scratches near obverse edge => super-cool coin ... I love the color and I love the subject-matter Cheers
uh-oh ... => yah, when Doug starts asking the hard homework questions, I find the best defense is the good ol' pheasant defense!! => just be still and hope that he doesn't single you out!! ... just jokes, my friend (I'm all fueled-up!!)
Eng => you seem to have quite a few sweet Prutahs?!! (what's the plural?) => that seems to be your niche, yes? Oh => and Go Seahawks, Gooooo!! (if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em!!)
