Image (7).jpg I know I've read and seen similar notes like this posted but i'am a big error collector or retain much of a memory on values with them. Is this considered a minor 3rd print shift error with the 12 sitting almost on top of the D4 plate position? I'd give it a Fine 12-15 grade with a small margin tear at right side. This is the first I've found with it being shifted that far to the left in circulation. Thanks guys.......

This is a minor shift. Major shift would have everything moved far left, right or up/down. Still, a nice find.
On a side note, it looks like the BEP has really cleaned up their act as far as errors are concerned. I haven't found any smudges, over/under inking or any shifts with the 2009 series. Everything is too perfect.

Is it something the right dealer would be interested in at a show to barter with if i find something i may want from his inventory? Any premium in its condition? Just trying to figure out if its worth keeping for that reason. I'd hate to release it back into the wild.

It has two errors? First the districts black #s are out of register. Next, the Green Seal and numbers are also out of register. This also could mean, that the sheet was out of register when the first printing was done for the face. This would mean that all the later was not out. This could be the correct answer. Still a nice find. We need a picture of the back.

Good. It looks OK. so the first print was OK. Thanks. This proves that it's on the front only. The reverse is well centered. So, according to the obverse. The first printing was good also, because it's well centered. So, the last two printing were off. This could be at the set up, it was out, and some pages were not taken off, during the proofing of the set up sheets. They got by both and the plates or type, were not set. That's just a thought.

So what am i confusing about the 3rd printing if both the green ink and black get printed in the 3rd? Does both the black and green make up the 3rd printing?

The green and black overprints are part of the 3rd printing. They are printed by separate mechanisms and can be shifted relative to each other.

I'd have to disagree with Searcher regarding the alternative explanation. If the overprint was in the correct position, and the face+back were shifted, then there would be an obvious shift of the face+back in relation to the cut, unless there was a cutting error on top of all that.

Although the shift is very minor, a leftward shift is less common than a right shift. You are correct about your observation. From my own observations, I'd say that maybe 15 to 20% of misaligned overprints are shifted to the left.
