Indian Head cents hands down. There are such a better looking coin and not something you see everyday!
I'd have to go with the Indians. Mostly, because of the simple design of the coin, and I've had a much easier time putting together a nicely matched set of circultated VF. Lincoln's seem to be all over the color scheme. I also find Indians tend to be cheaper for some much rarer coins.
Indians, no doubt, but I have both. High grade Indians are very attractive, and add the Flying eagles to the bunch and you have a heck of a collection. Also, the Indians are easier to cherrypick for varieties. Either way you won't go wrong, good luck on your collection.
Well my Lincoln Cent Collection is done so I'm half way working on the Indians---what I'm trying to do is find the key dates in nice grades before I start work on the rest of the set---I have a 1908-S that would grade VF and my 1909-S is graded ANACS VF30...so the next one I would like is 1877in VF but that ain't going to happen any time soon Speedy
I am partial to any liberty design over the more modern coins with the presidents on them. One set i would like to begin a collection on is a good set of standing liberty quarters. It is a great design it is more "Scenic" with structures around her. I like the designs like that, Most of our coins are of a portrait type.
When I began collecting at a young age, wheaties were my favorite, and the complexity of the series made it a fun, long term challenge. Now that I´m basically finished, IHC´s attract me more. As for the designs, well, I like both for different reasons, they make very different statements.
I like the Indian Head Cents far more than the Lincolns. They are much more attractive and more of a challenge to complete the set. That probably explains why my Indian Head album is fuller than my Lincoln album.
I like them both. I have now completed 10 sets of Lincoln Cents but can not even finish one set of Indian Cents. I have three sets of them and none are complete. Mostly I forget to look for them at coin shows and end up coming home with a newer, nicer Lincoln Cent. Recently went to buy a 77 Indian at a coin show and ended up with a AU58 or better 1914D Lincoln Cent. Maybe next show.
