Hi found this quarter and am curious as to what happened to reverse rim and if this major obv crack would be considered rare or of value.
The impression on the reverse rim appears to be PMD. You can see that the metal is pushed up and out of the mark (crater effect). If it had been a strikethrough or (maybe) a die gouge, there would be no raised metal alongside it. The obverse crack is not unusual. When the Mint released them, I bought a couple of the $25 bags for each mintmark. Out of the 200 Philly coins, I found almost 3 dozen that had multiple die cracks. One of the cracks originated in the same area as your specimen, continued to expand both left and right and eventually extended all the way to the rim at both ends. All of these coins came from the same die. I knew this because every coin had a kidney-shaped die dent (gouge?) in the middle of GW's neck. Chris
