I attended another coins show in San Jose Ca. this weekend and what I like to find is unc rolls of lincolns. When I find some, I bought a 69/71 P rolls, I ask if they have any more. The answer sometimes is that they just sold the others but most of the time it is that they just do not bring them. The general consensus is that they are not worth the time and are just to dam heavy. Yet I see some of these dealers struggling to sell their Morgans or halfs and other coins, I know by asking them how business is. I also ask if any other people were interested in bulk cents and some say yes. So my question is if there is a demand for these coins and the dealers know it and have a supply of it why do they not bring more? Let me say I did have one dealer say if I call them before the next show he will bring some. So yes they are heavy and the margin is not great but a sale is a sale!
any thoughts on this? West coast thing? or just me, I do take showers.... thanks Randy

Well, if the SJ show is like ones around here, the items have to fit in the car (which limits what you can take) and have to be lugged into the venue and back out, sometimes with help and sometimes not. Not trying to justify, just explain.

The same happens at shows in other hobbies (like model railroading, the one with which I am most familiar). Dealers can't physically bring everything, so they take a guess as to what might sell. (Well, if they set reasonable prices, anyway...)

I would take up the dealer on the offer to call ahead, but make sure that you show up, hopefully to buy. (Well, if it's a reasonable price, anyway... but I repeat myself.) I would have suggested that as well.

BTW where is the SJ show, and are there any in the summer? Just curious.

It is the exception, rather than the rule here (Long Island, NY) to see rolled unc cents, or rolled cents at all.
I have seen them but it is infrequent.
As they said, they are heavy and little profit margin.

Its the same way here in Missouri. I was trying to find rolls of quarters and nickels at a show last summer. I found some people who sold them, but they didn't have very many at all. They said they were too heavy too.

But, I should add, that states quarters are usually available, even in rolls.
