Me personally I would put it at F details - just because it looks like some old corrosion that was removed. Over all very nice looking coin. I did not try to verify the attribution or anything. Of course wait for someone with more knowledge on these than me.
Looks like S-9, R-2. As for the grade, I would grade the level of detail at VF20, with the obverse maybe a little higher. The picture are not clear enough, for me at least, to judge on the condition of the surfaces. A very worthy coin for sure.
VF30 maybe 35....very nice coin, killer obverse. When do we get an answer?... Is it the Lettered Edge or Vine and Bars?
It's not slabbed, so there's no "right answer". I was approached by a friend who's looking to sell this, and I was trying to nail down a condition to determine it's value. I'll check on the edges shortly - is there a major value difference between the two different edge types?
George, the Lettered Edge is more valuable due to survival numbers. Not much on low grades but with your coin about $500. Join PCGS for $50 and send that bad boy in.
Do you mean $500 total or $500 more for the edge? Because this coin is definitely in the many many thousands range in terms of value for its condition
$500 for the edge, at least. Coin Facts says a difference of $1,000 in VF but you know how price guides are.
Droooooooling over that coin... What an amazing coin... I agree with the VF on the condition.... Gorgeous! What a great example of the early copper series!
Lettered edge only comes on S-11 (S-11 comes with three different edges, vine and bars, lettered edge of 93 with single leaf, and lettered edge with double leaf.) The S-9 only comes with the vine and bars edge.
