Ok I know crappy iPhone pics best I could do my only concern is the 1878-s soaked it in acetone to get some crud off the reverse which it did nicely but not sure if pcgs sniffers etc will have a problem with that is first coin I'd soaked then submitted and I didn't wait and let it mellow I pulled it out then shipped a day later any thoughts?

  4. Unless you sent them for secure plus, the sniffer will not be used. Regardless, acetone is acceptable.

Are you 100% positive the 1873 is genuine?

I got zero problems on the 1873 having held it in hand and especially knowing where they came from both came out of an old New England estate I know trades well and am 100% certain on these my thought on grade was vf20 on the 1878-s and either xf-45 or au-50 (I'm hoping) on the 73

Thanks for the info was a bit concerned about it just sent them standard I never sent anything I'd cleaned in any way before I tend to leave stuff alone but there was this black crud on the reverse so I soaked it as I was afraid of getting a details grade cause of it

    AWORDCREATED Hardly Noticeable

According to wiki "The United States Congress authorized the U.S. Mint to create a trade dollar to improve trade with the Orient, China in particular."

Regards fakes: Seems to have worked?

Worked a little too well I'd say hard to find anything not made in china anymore including trade dollars ;)

  13. Acetone itself doesn't hurt, but if you scraped to remove the crud and left some shiny metal, they may not like it.

I didn't I know better I wiped the undissolved crud off with a q tip and rinsed with distilled water just was unsure if the acetone left a chemical residue that they'd object to I use the stuff all the time in my work especially got cleaning old radiator paint off antique gold leaf picture frames but wasn't sure if the tpgs would have a problem thanks for the info

    A 73 in PCGS XF45 is a great coin. I'd be extremely pleased! :)
