i have a series 1953 $2 bill, which i think might have an error (i dont have a camera)
the entire bill is not off center, but "SERIES 1953" is on top of "SECRETARY" in 'secretary of the treasury' and the signature starts at "OF" and runs off the end of "TREASURY" , but nothing else is off center. is this even possible?

Without a picture, we can't even be sure you have a $2 bill.

I believe this is what you're referring to:

Unfortunately, this is not an error unless it's an extreme shift. The series year and the signature were not engraved into the face plate. These were part of the overprint and the position was subject to variation.

I've seen notes where it's aligned far left, where the word Series is right near the portrait; all the way to the right where the signature is over the face plate position letter; and positions all in between.

Indeed. Has to be pretty severe to command any sort of a premium.

This is considered a "moderate" misalignment error

But I don't think the OP has a misaligned overprint at all--he says "the entire bill is not off center". I think he's talking about what Funkee posted.

This is a known phenomenon on 1953 $2's specifically. Some of them have the series date and the Humphrey signature shifted far right, without affecting the rest of the overprint.

I'm not sure what exactly is the explanation for these $2's, but they're not scarce enough to be worth a large premium. If you go through a good-sized pile of red-seal $2's, they're not hard to turn up....

I'm not aware of similar shifts on other series--just one signature is affected without the whole black overprint being shifted.

From observation, I'd say about 5-10% of 1953 $2's have a shifted signature. The 1953A $2 series is also affected. I haven't come across any from 1953B or later.
