I'm pretty sure I spelled her name wrong anyway, but I can't imagine Hilary being worse than Obama has been.
Good thing you know that we will not get into politics here. In my opinion there could be men and women on coins (preferably without any gender preference). But significant sites, natural or architectural, would be fine too. Christian
Yes! I would love to have my money denominated in, say, buffaloes, eagles, turkeys, whitetails, and cougars.
Like Susan B. Anthony?? Eunice Shriver? Every numismatist literally glows with the pride of ownership of such beautiful coins. Seriously the educational notes are some of the greatest in US currency but are allegorical.
I say Liberty. No dead President, no matter how iconic, can fully represent the values and aspirations of an entire nation. Yet, a mythical representation can do that, and with unrelenting beauty, something also severely lacking in our dead guy line-ups.
I agree, but Washington and a few others thoroughly deserve the honors accorded in their lifetimes and afterwards and on our coinage. George and Martha on the $1 Ed. note is one of the great sets of images, though as with most they are artistic renderings.
Early Washington quarters are a thing of beauty. This is especially easy to notice and appreciate, in comparison with the comical modern redesign.
I think the Liberty rendition on the Mexican Caballito Peso is the best ever. Unfortunately the modern day version would probably be a skank on a Harley with a bicep tatto. https://www.google.com/url?q=http:/...Pjf3jw&usg=AFQjCNHhP5wro6-ZBHZofE0-XwOTsJLRZQ
I think I met the woman of my dreams at the local coin show this weekend --- a PF-64 1892 V Nickel. Miss Liberty never looked so good. Some men appreciate women for their looks, some say personality, but what really got me was her "cameo".
i think a fictional depiction of liberty is better. i feel idolizing presidents, or famous people is wrong; that is what commemoratives are for. if they really deserve something let it be on a memorial themed piece. but to stamp their face on something we use everyday, is wrong. i think coins should have "visions of perfection"...something to strive for; like perfect liberty, or freedom. or a maple leaf.
Women are just generally more pleasant to look at. That being said, for coins it doesn't really matter. I like images of animals, buildings, and objects just as much on coins.
I have no doubt Hilary is a very capable individual (like her husband), however, I do not like her as a person. However, if given the choice, I'd rather have her (young version) on a coin than in the White House. edited: political comment! come on, keep it open.
