I'm glad you guys think it was an ok purchase...

There were plenty more other similar (big) Ptolemys at Vcoins if you guys also want some.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll post pictures once I get it.

It hurts me to say that I no longer trust a vCoins seller just because they are a vCoins seller. I once did. vCoins was sold and they let in some dealers that did not belong there. Later they went back under control of 1000% capable and honest heads but I have not seen the elimination of dealers I don't trust. Certainly 95% of their dealers are great but there are coins offered on vCoins with fake patinas not so described and I can not stomach that. I buy a lot of coins from vCoins dealers but that is because I trust that particular dealer and not because they are a vCoins dealer. The coin you bought and the dealer who sold it seem quite fine to me.

I recently bought a coin from a vCoins dealer but the coin did not arrive in a timely fashion. I inquired but did not mention a refund. The dealer refunded my Paypal and said to pay again if the coin shows up. It has not yet but I have a very good feeling about that dealer. There is a problem I see with Paypal. They limit your period of claim against non delivery to 45 days. When the post office and customs (not to mention Christmas rush) conspire, a coin can take that long to arrive. I once got a book from India that took three months. I bought a coin from Germany a couple years ago that never came but Paypal refused my claim because I waited too long hoping it would come. Beware of ordering from overseas and not watching your calendar. Not every seller is as nice as the one I used. (I really hope that coin comes tomorrow!)

I haven't had any issues with Vcoins, and just placed a couple of orders. Maybe I am a cynic, but I think this business attracts some shady people. I recommend Vcoins, but like someone said, some of the prices are too high.

I have a dealer who has a coin on hold for me & it wont ship until he comes to the u.s. for 3 months. It was a option given to me mainly because both of us dont trust customs. It isnt a high value coin, under $100 but I liked this option because it saves $15 to ship overseas, I dont have to worry about customs and its gonna be shipped free when he comes to the u.s., this will be in the middle of april.

I find that to be pretty good service even though I have to wait about 3 months still.

When something like Vcoins has rules and codes of ethics, surely the owners must take action if people complain about dealers who are not being entirely accurate with their descriptions or lack of them? After all, its their livelihood and to lose the trust of well respected collectors is very bad for them.....especially if Forums such as this are discussing them....
