So I was the winning bidder on both of these coins, both images were from a scanner. The 1882-CC looks to be a high grade with little to no chatter on the obverse. Same with the 1902-O, both appear to be at least 65's.... What are your thoughts on these coins?
Can't see the 82cc--image is too small and out of focus. 1902 is definitely NOT a 65. 64 at most, and possibly a 63 due to the marks in the field in front of Liberty's face. I'd be generous on it and say 63+ to 64.
Neither appear 65 for me. The CC is, as said, too small to appropriately grade but I would put a nice 63 maybe a 64 on it. The O I would go 62.
Too low for the '02. I would say it would grade 63, and looks like a garden variety 63 Morgan. A generous grade would be 63+
Plus I'd get that '02-O into a new holder fast . I'm surprised the rust hasn't jumped to the coin already .
Agree with Larry about the 1902. Depending on what you paid for the 82-CC, I think you picked up a nice one. I agree the pictures aren't great for grading, but from what you posted, I like it as at least a 64.
Not only the areas circled by Phoenix21, the rust has also affected the edge of the coin at the three and six o'clock positions. If the seller did not disclose the environmental damage (rust) in the eBay listing you have a case for returning the coin for a full refund which I would recommend. A problem free 1902-O BU Morgan can be easily found at a reasonable price. Do NOT remove the coin from the 2x2 it is in if you do decide to return it. Send it back just the way it is.
So here's the pictures of the 1882-CC GSA Now that we have some nice clear pictures and not scans, what do you think?
The 1882 CC looks like a solid MS-63 and could quite possibly net an MS-64 grade. It is a better than average GSA dollar.
It's a tiny bit better than my GSA '82-CC which I grade 63 , and after a 2nd look the larger pics through me off a little , it could very well get a 64 .
It is a solid 63, with a shot at 64. No point in thinking of grading it. Very nice, but average looking for the date.
