Is a 1988 Lincoln w/ no designer initials a legit error?

And if so, is it worth anything more than $0.01?

`988 is like a lesser known year for the no initials "variety", kind of like the 1969-D "No FG". Some people are holding onto them in hopes they will make an appearance in the next Cherrypicker's Guide. Me...I just toss 'em. ;)
