I love these big lumps of silver. They are very satisfying to hold. Here is my Kallias Magistrate one... (it can be enlarged) and my Metrophanes Congratulations. Martin
Wow C89, totally awesome,I want to go shopping Ancients with you. Martin what a show..very nice to...
Your Kyme coins & photos are great! I should apologize to the coin Gods for my poor photos in this case. My new Kyme coin should really be photographed by an expert. In hand, it is quite flashy and not well represented by my lifeless pics.
Wow, Collect89 => another fantastic animal coin pick-up (congrats!!) Man, I don't have one of those pretty babies ... Aeolis, eh? => ummm, the only coin I have from Aeolis is this ol' AE goat!! ... man, my poor ol' goat isn't nearly as classy as your sweet new purchase (bravo)
These coins tend to be of a high artistic quality. The flans are generally quite large ranging from around 29mm to over 33mm. They seem to have shaped the blanks flans to allow for a high relief portrait, which is something that these all seem to share. They are generally well centred and well struck which all adds to their general eye appeal. The coins can exhibit some flaws such as on my second coin, where you can clearly see a break in the die on the cheek of Kyme, another on her lip and another forming in the filed in front of the portrait. These can be seen to develop over time when you examine other examples from this obverse die.
Thank you to everyone for the kind Kyme koin komplements. I wasn't satisfied with my first photo so I snapped another photo today. This time the coin is photographed on my office desk. There is fluorescent lighting about 5 ft above the desk. Here is the new photo.
Whoo boy, that's some coin. I prefer the new photos much more. Keep up the good work (and stop slacking)!
