Today I took out all the nickels in a change jar I have. I had 82 nickels in total. I organized the years into columns and rows (see photo below).

The purpose of this was to see the largest streak of consecutive years and also to see how many of each year. I didn't have any 2004 or 2005 cause I put those in a different jar. Each column represents a decade.

    Results:

Longest consecutive streak: 1983-1997 (15 years)
Most of single year: 2012 (10)
    2nd most year: 2013 (9)
Oldest: 1963 (had two of these)

It's a small sample size, but you can see that recently minted coins get pumped into circulation quickly.

I have consecutive nickels from 1886-2013. I've exluded 1922, 1933 and 1934 since no nickels were made in those years. The most (that I'm tracking) would be 31 from 1936.
