I tried to find the answer but apparently couldn't hit upon the right keywords combination. Can the ogp lenses holding the GSA dollars be opened without damage? TIA for info.

If I'm not mistaken they should open just like mint sets. With a knife there should be a gap around the edge you can pry open.

Yes, but like anything else, if you know what you are doing.

Since they're not hermetically sealed like a TPG slab, as they only snap close like the lenses in the U.S. Mint proof sets, yes they can be opened.

I would use a small flat head screwdriver, preferably from a precision set like some jewelers use, and carefully force it in the seam between the top and bottom half of the holder, and gently twist until it separates.

I did not know this. I'll need to be more careful when buying GSA Morgans ungraded. Thanks for the information.

Thanks all. To be clear, I don't want to open one, I wanted to know if it can be done before I begin shopping for them.

They are sonicly welded, not just snap together. They aren't sealed as well as a slab but usually they will still show damage if forced open.

That's what I thought. Kinda like the Eisenhower Dollar Silver Proof coin lenses. You CAN open them but 90 out of 100 will show some type of breakage.
