    The Coin has been relisted

The Fake silver dollar has been re-listed with a 24 hour auction duration. Item: 170070339395

I have a feeling this will not be a successful auction for the seller.

I sent ebay a note on 2 of her items that are both fake--and pointed out that she listed real coins along with her fakes so she doesn't get caught...and some more things :D

Ebay is well aware of the fake coins being sold and of the seller estatedoctor. This seller is known to be less than honest. There are so many discussion boards on eBay about the fakes being sold that it amazes me that eBay does so little to police its own site. Try checking out this thread on eBay and you'll find estatedoctor listed.

zaneman, are you familiar with the CoinForgeryeBay group on eBay? I guess that probably won't help you much, as you can't sign in to eBay. There is some pretty active discussion regarding this seller.

Lots of eBay phone numbers in this link. Scroll to the bottom. Real people with names too. Nice link Joey.

Someone on this Forgery forum had a good idea on " how to become rich with eBay."

" I recommend going Texas short eBay stock. Listings are way down and the fee hike will only make it worse. "

I still say as I said in my first reply, You should never have bid on this coin. You should not have gotten involved in it. You still could have reported your findings to ebay that the coin was fake, and to the FBI whatever. to ebay.

    Ed:
Perhaps you are correct, but he saw a wrong and tried to protect the buyers, a very brave thing to do.
Now, we have to have the guts to step up and work to protect someone who simply was trying to protect us (us meaning the collector).
Or, we can just sit there and do what everyone normally does, fall asleep until they come for us.

    Thanks airedale,

Here's another eBay link for reporting COIN problems ONLY!!

    http://tinyurl.com/5p4vz

(I used tinyurl.com to shorten this link because it is waaaaaay too long for a message board)

You don't have to go thru all those other links on eBay and do a general report. They rarely do squat anyway via the general "report a problem" link. Those very well hidden links on site map or even the one at the bottom of an auction page where it says 'Report this item" probably go to some bullcrap mailbox that is overwhelmed and rarely read. I think those links are just eBay window dressing to make it APPEAR as though they actually look into those reports. I have used the above link many times and actually see some kind of action taken. I use it alot to report excessive shipping by sellers. Sorry sellers, I'm going to report you if you sell one darn SAE for $5.99 and charge $17.99 shipping. That's a blatant attempt to circumvent fees and I'm not paying your damn fees.

Then there are sellers who sell 1 oz. silver bars for $0.99 and charge $16.99 shipping and they will NOT combine shipping. I report them too. Ebay doesn't police it's own site so we have to.

I sent a fax to good ole Margaret Whitman in the Spring of 2006 because I was so PO'd about private feedback. Scammers were being protected with private feedback and also by making the IDs of their bidders private. There was just no way to alert bidders of sellers with terrible feedback because comments were private. I know I was not the only one who felt this was total bull and that policy has now changed. Scroll and read the Oct. 2nd and oct. 31st updates from Brian Burke:

Ok..don't get me started on eBay...LOL..I use eBay and have been a registered user since 1997 and even with it's problems, it's the best deal in town. You just have to be careful and be smart.

It is unfortunate the deed is done albeit with good intentions. If it has to run its course Zaneman will be reinstated at some time, probably in 30 days.
A Judge friend mentioned a year or so ago why the law is so harsh with the vigilante. The system just wants to do it their way and eBay must feel the same. From the comments on the forgery forum this guy is a perpetual perpetrator and eBay employees are actually accused of taking bribes to turn a blind eye to certain sellers. Much discussion is also made in that venue of how quickly the eBay police will remove a post they feel is improper. They should watch sellers with multiple negative feedback so closely. Go figure! Maybe the system has broken down. I for one will make no new listings for two months on eBay and maybe take the advice of selling some eBay stock short.

especially when you consider that this seller (expletive deleted) has 120 (!) mutually agreed removed negs!
    What a (expletive deleted) dirtbag.

I incredibly agree with the blind eye concept. In my first listing on eBay, I asked for an extra fee if paying by paypal (Ok, I didn't know then it was in violation of policy)... I got a message stating I was going to be reported by one buyer. I would have changed the listing obviously if I had been warned with sufficient time,etc... but within 15 minutes of the buyers message, the listing had been cancelled... 15 minutes!!! (Sadly I wasnt on the comp at the time) They do police the site... But seems they are enthusiatic only if they feel THEY are losing a buck...

O.K., So Ebay's policy is you are legally binded to any bid you make. You not paying for the item also caused you to break the law, even though he was breaking the law. And so goes the saying two wrongs don't make a right. Should have just ignored it and went on. If some moron wants to buy it, let them buy it, it's not your money.

Yes, but do you Know that estatedoctor has filed a complaint that she is being picked on. Ebay probably will take her side and banish all who complain against her. Ebay needs to provide insurance on any item that goes through their site because if it weren't their site nobody could have bid on it in the first place.Ebay is to blame on any high priced item and should require a surety bond from the seller.

Is there a link to this? I'd like to see it.

Won't happen... eBay is just a venue, our hands are tied... Although I seem to recall that early on there were plugs for escrow services. I guess that those were dropped since the business case wasn't there.
