I worked overnight shift at the store this morning. One of our regular customers came in and when he paid for his cokes and smokes, he was a dime short. I told him not to worry about it but he said that he would come back to the store and bring the dime later in the night. I then told him to just bring it in the next time he came in the store, but he insisted on bringing the dime back. 2 hours or so later I was cleaning the cappuccino machine and the same guy came back in the store. He said that he was bringing the dime in and I just said to set it on the counter. I had completely forgotten about the dime. I finished cleaning the cappuccino machine and walked up to the counter and looked at the dime and thought "that really looks like silver." I then turned it over and saw the 1960 date. I'm glad that the customer was so adamant about bringing the dime back to the store. This is my second silver dime of the year.
That's pretty cool! Makes you wonder if that 'regular customer' didn't in fact know that it was worth more than a dime.... and decided to give you a bit of a 'tip' for being nice and understanding! Not a bad little score though! We coin junkies are ALWAYS on the lookout for pocket change like that!
I thought the same thing, but I don't think this guy knows I'm a collector. I might have mentioned coins to him in the past and forgot about it. I like it. Anytime silver is involved, I'm happy.
