hi all! found my first clashed die on a 1879 morgan which i just acquired. there is the base of the T (looks like L) on the obverse near the lips on liberty. went to the vam link but i am new at morgan attribution and couldn't find it. would anyone know about i.d.ing this? thank you all so much for your advice and help. it is greatly appreciated.....steve

Check out this page on VAMworld. At the bottom of the page, you'll see some clash die overlays. It's usually the wreath that is clashed near Liberty's lips.

To be a unique VAM with clashing, there usually has to be a letter transfered. Check for any part of "In God" near her neck, part of "Trust" in the hairvee above the stars right of the date, mint mark or parts of DOL at the top of the obverse... and on the revere, clashed E under the tail feathers from LIBERTY, and the designer's initial "M" over "In God".

Post a picture if you can.

Clashes are very normal. But find one of these under the tailfeathers and you have a winner.

thank you so much for your help. it is definitely clashed w/ part of the t showing (the transposition matches up w/ vamworlds chart). not a full letter transfer but i was excited because i actually noticed it. there are a couple other slight desgn transfers too. its interesting as well as.... i'm learning!!!!! once again...thank you all so much for your help.
