Now up for sale on Ebay Item #3930012063 If shipping was not so high $29, I would pay .99 for it as a novelty. I suppose it is worth at least $6 for it's silver content.
Is this not just an altered date 1928 made to be a 1828? Or was it totally recast to be a 1828? I do understand that it is a fake, just thought it would be a neat novelty. The three feedback were all for the same "18th C" clock.
These novelty coins are recreated using many techniques, but never altering geniune coins. It is far easy and cheaper to create a die and use base metals.
It would be, if only it were silver. Report made to eBay Community Coin Watch, for whatever good it may do.
I don't believe that any of the sellers feedback are genuine. It looks like the seller had some friends who placed a bid then killed the auctions without canceling the bids so that the item could still be left for feedback. Probably the high shipping was designed to discourage true buyers from bidding so that his friends could win and then leave positive feedback. This seller has scam artist written all over him. I have reported the auction to eBay (for whatever good it will do). It seems pretty cut-and-dry to me since Peace Dollars weren't minted until 1921, but I'm sure that we'll get the same satisfaction as always. Sorry to be so cynical, but experience is a good teacher.
all the chinese fakers charge high shipping its the same gang as always that is selling these coins there getting rich off it
