Voting for this thread to be closed as the last few posts are unrelated to numismatics.

 

I don't see mods flexing or abusing their powers...I see their actions as taken in order to avoid larger conflicts. As a moderator myself on another forum, that is what we do. While actions taken may upset the most vocal of members, overall we do it for the better of the community.

It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" job. People will complain about either lack of moderation or too much.

The first TPG, certificates not slabs, was INS (International Numismatic Society). They started in 1976. ANA didn't start grading until 1977 but they were authenticating in 1972.

I had a few Morgan Dollars in these older, Type 5 to Type 7 style mylar flips with photographs of obverse and reverse and each side of the coin graded individually... quite cool actually...
