Yah, I only have a few coins with a Kantharos (a good ol' drinkin' mug), but I'd "love" to see a lot more of 'em!!

=> so please get off yer rumps and post any of your coins that fit the theme!! (thanks gang)

Very sadly, my first example is my most expensive coin, yet it is a very poor example of this ultra-cool dude riding his dolphin and chuggin' a brew!! .... but I love this coin and if you squint yer eyes and imagine then you can see that he's hoistin' a mug of ancient draught!!

    Cheers, gang!!

    CALABRIA, Tarentum, AR Nomos
    Circa 315-302 BC

Obverse: Warrior, preparing to cast spear, holding two others and shield, on horse rearing right; ΣA below
Reverse: Phalanthos, holding kantharos and trident, astride dolphin left; AP monogram to left; below, small dolphin left

Here is a far better example of a great Kantharos Coin (one of my first and still one of my favourite ancient pick-ups)

This obol from Taras (aka Tarentum) is the same as Steve's stater but the smaller flan did not allow room for those dolphin/horse types so they gave us just the cup. These are a lot more rare than the big flashy staters but their popularity is even smaller than you can imagine. There are many variations in the stars, dots and other minor things on these.

=> yah, I may have posted this coin recently, but this baby really does deserve to be posted regularly, for it is an awesome example of a great coin!!

=> not only is this coin kinda cool lookin', but it also could be one of the very first ancient "bronze-coins" ever struck!! .... oh sorry, ever "casted!!"

Oh, and lastly => I've never seen a better example of this coin => so I hope/challenge you dudes to find a sweeter example than my lovely Princess (oh, and if you do, then I'm gonna love it ... I love seeing great coins!!)

    You guys rock!!

Great coin, Bing!! (I am always jealous of that baby)

=> ummm sure Randy, it may not be a traditional drinking mug, but it'd probably hold a half-shot of tequila?

    ;)

    I too don't have a coin with a kantharos. Wouldn't mind one. Wouldn't mind a kantharos either.

man, I don't have a kantharos coin or coin with a cup on it at all.

I'd had to much to drink when I bought these, does that count?
