I wasn't sure what my time limit was. That, coupled with the seller's previous negs and the incomplete tracking info led me to want to be prepared ahead of time for shenanigans. Not impatient (ok.... maybe a little ) as much as trying to be aware of my options.
Options? Options? You have the right to remain silent, but not violent! Now turn around grab the wall and spread em !!!
The seller may have negative feedback, but more importantly, what is their feedback percentage? If the seller's feedback percentage is high 90's I would sweat it much and allow more time.
His score is 5024. Percentage is 99.6. That is 887 positives, 6 neutrals, 6 negs this month (consisting of 5 SNADs and one item not received) In the past year 6770 pos, 29 neutral, 21 neg.
I would give it 7 to 10 working days, if you don't receive it then file a claim. BTW, you really should check a sellers feedback prior to buying from them, I'm just sayin'. It doesn't do you any good to realize the seller has negs after you already jumped in the fire. I'm sure you've figured that out by now. good luck!
If you"live in the sticks" as we say in "the sticks", things might move slowly but tax returns seem to make it in on time. Shipping and handling time estimates are as simple as the plan to sell the item. The USPS may have its issues but they are professionals and only want your packages to arrive safely. The seller knows where he lives and how long it will take to "handle and ship" the item. If the seller has neglected to list the item correctly or has failed to comply with the shipping policy that they themselves set, they are liable. Not the buyer. If I purchase something and money has changed hands, I expect it in my hands within the stated time. Suppose a 100 oz. silver bar was to arrive on Tuesday with the silver spot price of 25 and it hasn't even shipped. It shows up three weeks after promised delivery and the price has dropped to 15. The money changed hands weeks ago and yet..... The point is that the seller and the buyer have obligations. The listing is a "contract" that both the seller and the buyer are agreeing to. Both need to fulfill their obligations. One of which, for the seller, is to ship within a stated time frame. Three weeks is a decade in the Ebay market. IMHO
I did check the feedback before bidding. I just know though that there are buyers who abuse the system, and some of them appeared to fit the bill in the case of this seller. Just saying, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt especially with the buyer protection in place, but don't want to get taken over a technicality like waiting too long or not following some procedure. I haven't been buying much on eBay for a few years.
If I was a seller and I shipped something on 1/3 and the buyer was opening a case on 1/8, I would be very upset. Much of the country has had bad weather recently, and even in the best of conditions you never know how long the mail will take to arrive.
I now have a case against me as a seller. I'm not upset, but it is very annoying. Here are the details: Coin paid for late afternoon Jan 2nd. I printed the label Jan 2nd and dropped it off at the PO on the morning of Jan 3rd. It began tracking at 5am Jan 4th. Today, the buyer opened a case claiming I did not send the package yet. Tracking shows the package reached the destination post office yesterday. So I assume it will be delivered today. Gee whiz, it's less than a week and there has been bad weather!
Uh, how in the world can they open up a case saying you haven't mailed the package when the tracking info should be available for them?!?
eBay policy states you can open an "item not received" case AFTER the estimated delivery date or eight days after making payment. Here's the policy... in sodude's case, the buyer will lose. http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/item-not-received.html
This guy cracks me up. He says it was supposed to be delivered yesterday but didn't show up so he thinks he's not getting it.
Just an update on the story. Now, just tonight, the status of my package on usps.com changed to this: Your Item Status: Your item has been processed at the origin sort facility at 8:51 pm on January 13, 2014 in NASHUA, NH 03063. - Accepted at USPS Origin Sort Facility, January 13, 2014, 7:34 pm, LONDONDERRY, NH 03053 - Electronic Shipping Info Received, January 3, 2014 so, I don't know but it looks like he may have forgotten to mail it until yesterday. That NH town is where the seller is from, and was supposedly too small to scan a package in, yet here it is scanning it in as accepted. Only ten days after the seller claimed to have shipped it. I was just getting ready to contact the seller too wondering what was up, and now I see the sellers hometown po only just accepted it.
Unless tracking is seriously delayed, I would say he probably sold you something he didn't have in his possession. He had to wait for it arrive to then ship it to you. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Please let us know how the rest of it goes.
I see this happen sometimes on things I buy. As I look at it, the seller isn't doing what they're supposed to do, but as long as I get the item I still leave positive feedback. You might think twice before buying from him again though.
I don't have a problem with someone doing that. If they got it cheaper elsewhere, then shame on me for not finding it cheaper elsewhere. What I would have a problem with is someone lying. If they said it was shipped today, and in actuality it hasn't because you still don't have it, then I have a beef with it.
