I would go with Roosevelt dimes, Jefferson nickels, Kennedy Halves and Franklin Halfs. Peace Dollars are not expensive and then have fun with the Morgan collection.

I nominate the humble Jefferson nickel. Lots of older Jefferson nickels are still in circulation. Occasionally a buffalo or a V nickel will show up, but not very often. As far as purchasing coins, an uncirculated war nickel collection with one for each year and mintmark would be a wonderful set of coins and quite affordable. They are 35% silver, so if the price of silver goes up then the collector value goes up, so they are a sound investment. The sound they make when shaken together is unmistakably war nickel. For this reason I bought 20 junk war nickels just so I can jiggle them together and hear that unique sound, and I recommend you buy a few junk war nickels if you take the Jefferson route. Avoid the post 2003 and especially the creepy, ugly post 2005 abominations. Some years are scarce in circulation, like the 1938, the 1950, and the war nickels.
