I had some made to hang certain coins in wall displays. They were all made out of walnut by an individual who was a wood worker. However, it is not a good idea if you have an on going collection where the quantity fluctuates. (IMHO) I don't like empty holes or coins left out of the displays. This happened with my ASE's.
OGP or slabbed. no displays necessary for me because they are all locked away and i only take them out once in a blue moon to oogle at them for a bit, then polish up all the little plastic airtites, laquered boxes, etc, and then back in the vault they go. i have thought about having a unique coin on my desk in a custom display before; just never pulled the trigger. i have a 1943 walking liberty half in a silver keychain ring my uncle (who got me into coin collecting) gave to me....i love it. the most random people ask me about it. it does rub my OCD a little now and then that the coin is gradually getting beaten to death over time, but it is a sacrifice of one single coin. its all good, ill just go flip the lights on and off 16 times, walk through a doorway 4x each way, and feel better about it for a little while.
I've been meaning to make one for a display I promised the local museum. Haven't had the time but I was using a black lucite with holes made for the individual pieces sandwiched between two pieces of plexi glass. One of these days I might finish.
