1740 Ocho Reales

    A pretty high condition example, struck at the Mexico mint. The photo doesn't show it well, but the dark toning has a pleasing green and purple iridescence to it.

    La fotografia del reverso. Taken through an airtite now, as you can see. Wear is comparable to, and maybe even a bit less than on the obverse, but the toning is not as attractive on this side.

    Very nice! The rim seems in good condition. I have seen these types where the rim "flakes".

    Not a bad Pillar, recently a friend wanted to give a gift of a historically significant neat old coin, and we decided on a Pillar dollar. He bought an AU 1768 which had been cleaned but which was still quite attractive.

    I bid on a sea salvage one myself (very slight porosity) but was greatly outbid (by like 3x). They're always nice coins if you can get a no-problems one.
