Problems selling coins to someone in Germany

I had a bunch of eBay coin auctions ending today, and when I checked my email I see a message from someone saying this: "i will pay 2 Dollar for this coin without mail cost. Please do not sendet this coin to me. For 16 Dollar postage fee i have reported this auction to ebay!"

I can't figure out what he's talking about because I charge $1.50 to ship overseas, and I pride myself on having low shipping charges. Then I look and see he left me negative feedback. A little while later another negative pops up from him on another item he purchased. I've never had a negative in 13 years of selling.

then I get payment for the second item (which he left a negative on), including my $1.50 shipping fee. Then I get this message: "Send me this product not to. There are cost their Ebay. I renounce it!
roduct not to. There are cost their Ebay."

So what am I to make of this? Does he want the coins or not? How can I get rid of the negative feedback? I thought you couldn't give negative feedback without contacting the seller first? Does that one message count as contacting me? Obviously the language barrier is a huge problem here and either he's messaging me in broken English or the eBay translator is doing a very poor job.

He's also bidding on several items ending next weekend, and I don't want to go through this again. He could get me thrown off eBay if he leaves me a bunch more negatives.

Oh, I should also mention that it looks like somehow the global shipping program option got checked on all my listings. I assume that's where the $16 comes from, but I sold to a lot of other people overseas and no one else seems to have a problem. They are all paying the $1.50 fee, not $16.

I wonder if this is something you could contact the buyer about. They may be able to withdraw a negative feedback. I doubt eBay would do anything to help you, but it might be worth a call to at least try.

I got a neutral from someone who wrote "I am happy with the coins" - he just thought I should have written him a thank you note (seriously!) to get a positive. eBay did nothing...

This is why I'm sending all MY coins to my own website now. eBay seems to only help out their huge customers. It will bite them in the behind eventually.

BTW - sorry someone screwed up your feedback!

Sounds Whack. Amazing that he could have left a feedback before paying even? I'd say call ebay, and also turn off that global shipping thing.

Contact Ebay about it, with the new global shipping thing Ebay started they are the ones most likely providing that shipping cost. Don't the items get shipped to Ebay hub first then sent out overseas? I think they'd remove the feedback if you contact them.

You can get the negatives removed. Just call eBay. Also, this is why I only sell to U.S. customers. I used to ship globally, until I got a case opened in another language about a coin stuck in customs. That was it for me. DONE.

"I RENOUNCE THEIR EBAY!" May become my new signature line for CT, haha! So awesome. I really feel the passion.

He left negative feedback without even receiving the item. Ebay will remove the negative.
After that, you should cancel the transaction.

The other day as I was adding items, I noticed the global shipping option was checked, so I went back through all my listings and removed it.

Go back and cancel his bids on your active items, too. No need to let it continue.

Place him/her on your banned bidder list straight away. Its easy to do. Negative feedback can be removed simply by ebay, just call them and be straight with them. I would not send the coins (definitely not), refuse to......tell ebay you have no intentions of sending and that the purchase was malicious in intent. Do not send a transaction cancellation request, speak to ebay first. By the sounds of it the buyer has escaped from an asylum so you wont get a sensible reply. Ebay are generally very fair when you have them on the end of the line, but do not try and email them...they will not reply.

Sending you a PM. I might be able to help with the language barrier as I speak some German.

I sent him another message asking if he wants the coins or not since he's sending me mixed signals. He said this in reply: ".I have sent them money US $5,50. You may retain all! Please, delete this offer! I not longer need it.

    best regard"

I told him I wasn't going to take his money if he didn't want the coins, so I sent it back and requested he cancel the transactions. He agreed to cancel them and he also cancelled his other bids. I'm going to see if he'll remove the feedback.

I sell foreign coins so it makes sense to sell internationally. I've had a few lost packages but I think I make more in the extra bids than I lose in lost mail. I wouldn't ship high value items internationally but for lower items it's worth it I think. This is the first problem like this I've ever had.

Only thing ebay cares about is their share.
Unless you got a rate change euro and US dollar but shipping should not been an issue .
Good luck ebay rep have very little control on shipping .

For anyone who was curious, I finally called eBay today and they agreed to remove the feedback. The seller never responded to my request for him to change his feedback, although he had agreed to cancel the transactions.

It was just a hassle because I had to call and probably spend 20 minutes on the phone explaining it to two different people. At least they removed it.

All is well that ends well. ;) Good that it worked out OK for you. And maybe it does make sense to limit the places that you sell to, just to be on the safe side. Now I don't "do" eBay anyway, but I do not buy from sellers outside the EU (well, Switzerland and Norway too). It's just much less of a hassle. And even when a seller in the neighboring Netherlands has a coin that I find interesting, the shipping costs sometimes make a purchase unattractive ...

Sorry to hear that, it's a shame for all Germans :-( sounds like he was missing school too many times ... trust me, most people here have a good command of English and those buying on eBay should know about shipping fees/custom duties/etc. If he doesn't you can still send him this link: http://pages.ebay.de/help/pay/shipping-for-buyers.html

I have a similar story to share.

A buyer was whinging about slow shipping time and opened a case with paypal. Note that I live in Australia and the buyer is in the US. Postage time takes about 2 - 4 weeks. He yet decided to continue to buy another lot of coins from me. Note that this was sold for a mere 99 cents. I decided to cancel this transaction as I figured it is a risk to me and gave him the option to cancel it or have it shipped registered or by express mail. He essentially threw tantrums and left a negative feedback.

I blocked his account and he had the balls to use another account to win another lot. I didn't figure it out but when I sent a photo of the mail of what he is going to receive - he started to complain about how the location of stamps is going to cause delay and was not happy about it. In my ten years history of sending coins to the US, this is the most absurd excuse I've ever heard of. Needless to say, another negative feedback.

I had to send several messages to ebay with regards to this behaviour and it took a good couple of months to sort this issue out.

And you know what the irony is? This seller sells counterfeits and is a top rated seller. What a joke. If you are concerned about selling coins to this person, please feel free to PM me.

Gxseries, that story is pretty crazy.
As far as shipping to other countries, I only started doing it in the past six months or so, but I have really noticed a pick up in my sales. I am getting prices I never did before and selling a lot more things. If I was just selling U.S. coins I'd probably restrict it more, but I'm glad I started including the rest of the world even though I have had a few instances of lost mail or problems like this. I've had a ton of buyers in Russia, for example, but I've probably sold to 30 different countries. Now I associate only shipping to the U.S. with lower prices, and I try to buy world coins from people who only ship to the U.S. figuring I'll likely get a better deal.
