Wait just a second here Stewart. I never called the OP a fool. My comment was a general statement and not directed at any one person who has posted to this thread.

Actually the 2006 is the fourth lowest at the moment. The 2011 and 2012 are both lower than the 2006. The '06 is still the darling however, it was the first.:)

  7. We always remember our first (ASE). :) I like this series and have them all in OGP. They are all MS70s to me but then again I cannot really see the difference between a 69 and 70 anyway. The lower mintage is a plus, but always collect what makes you happy. :) TC

Based on the latest sales report, the 2013-W ASE is at 178,968 (individual) and 25,418 (in the UNC set) for a total of 204,386. The UNC set is still available from the mint and 4,407 were sold in the last week.

BUncirculated and all of the other members that feel the same way, every time some one posts anything about graded Silver Eagles, you have to jump in to trumpet that 'they are only bullion'. It's getting stale. We know you greatly dislike graded Eagles. You are not going to change anyone's mind. Let us do our thing and we'll let you do yours.

I'm not attempting to change anyone's mind at all Rick.

If you don't like what I post you have two options:

    1. Don't read it.

    2. Place me in your iggy box.

    Your choice.

Neither choice you make will hurt me widdle feewings at all :D

Well, I don't want to come across as a fool, but, I don't know what you meant here...

"To pay more than $5 for a burnished, bullion coin is really not a sound thing to do..."

Go to any B&M, and purchase a 1 oz. ASE bullion round.

Their retail price is spot price, currently at $20.25, plus $3-$5 over that price, for a total purchase price of $23.25-$25.25, and some states; N.Y. included; require sales tax to be charged on the purchase.

If you're of the impression that you can buy these for exact spot price, you should buy as many as you can because you would be either A.) getting one heck of a deal, or B.) dealing with someone who doesn't know about adding the retail premium over spot price for selling these.

And no one is, or has called you a fool!

That was what I asked you, you said that's not what you meant...

I don't live in the USofA. I was wondering if your displeasure with these coins means you value them at $5, to be spiteful, or $5 over spot. I'll try to read and understand better, next time. Still trying to master American English, and all.;) We can always try crayons, if all else fails.:D

That's the ones with the W mint mark on them? I can get those for spot + $5? That's a heavy premium for a box and COA.

What you asked is whether people should wait for silver to be around $4 and try to get it for $5. What I meant was, paying a premium more than $5 over spot price for a 1 oz. bullion silver round is not a good purchase.

I would know this how? But seriously, unless you have it mentioned in your signature line, or on your avatar, no one would really know if you live in the U.S.A., or elsewhere.

I have no displeasure, despite what others may think, with these coins at all. Quite the contrary, and I've mentioned this before in this thread, I have actually owned a large number of these, which I purchased when silver was below $20 and ounce, I paid between $12-$18 each, from the same source, who charged at that time $3.50 over spot price. When silver spiked a couple years ago, to upwards of $40 an ounce, I sold all them off for as much as $5 over spot.

What I'm not a fan of is the cheap, and misleading marketing tools placed on TPG labels for these items such as FIRST STRIKE, EARLY RELEASE, and MS or PR 70.

NFN but a MS or PR 69 is just as nice looking as a 70, and there are not many collectors who could distinguish the difference between the two grades. I know I couldn't.

    :D

    No.

The W mintmarked ASEs are the uncirculated coins that collectors more often than not submit for grading, and those retail for more than spot from the U.S. Mint, $43.95 plus $4.95 shipping.

    Ok thanks.

Just going by this AMPEX listing... http://www.apmex.com/category/984/burnished-west-point-silver-eagles-2013-prior

In other words, it's not possible to get the Burnished W coin for spot + $5, at least not yet and not directly from the mint...

Where I come from, we do appreciate our lower mintage coins that vary from the rest, especially if the difference is a real mint mark.

Those are the collectible ASEs as they were struck at the West Point Mint and carry the W mintmark. That's also a high price for one too.

It's not only not possible currently, but it will never be possible for the ASE W minted coins.

Where are you from, if I may ask?

Toronto, Canada... we have the crack smoking Mayor.

So, the title of this thread does refer to the $43.95 plus $4.95 shipping version, right? I guess no amount of advice will let me buy one for spot + $5.:(

I understand that he's running again and could win re-election. I'm glad to see that Canada has graduated American politics.
