My least favorite current coin is the penny, of course--one of the least-valuable coins ever circulated.
Gotta say that newer nickel is hideous.. liked the 2005 version a lot though. I actually am into the dime it has an older school look..Isn't it the longest surviving U.S. design (obverse/reverse) of all time?? Might as well keep that one going as boring as it may be at this point. They should do one year re-issues of all the designs, I think the general public as well as us collectors would eat those up... probably would be too confusing though, paying for a coffee with a mix of seated dimes, mercs, shield nickels, bust and barber quarter re-issues... yeah, that's not gonna work
I don't care for the obverse of the quarter. I think it looks odd and cheap. I also don't care for having half a dozen reverses every year, but I understand why they do it.
I voted for the Lincoln Shield cent. Disclaimer: I don't collect Lincoln cents. The shield reverse is hideous IMO.
I must say that I'm amazed that anyone would pick any of the eagles as their least favorite coins. Have you put one beside any of the other coins on the list?
I think the ASE is beautiful as well. I'm guessing the reasons for the dislike is that the obverse design is not original and the reverse looks like an update of CBH design, so lack of originality has something to do with it.
American Platinum Eagle. High roller's investor coin, with no numismatic value. Buy platinum ingots, all you whales.
Although, nickels are one of my two preferred demons. to collect, I really dislike the current Jefferson obverse.
I don't like the modern quarters. Nor do I like the modern Jefferson nickel's. I'm one of the votes for the ATB quarters. I just find them ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In reality they started out the mint in 1793 and had some amazing designs right off the bat flowing hair draped bust had good designs through the 19th c but slowly degraded to the barber coinage teddy Roosevelt wanted to improve the coin designs in the beginning of the 20th c and he sure did we got many very nice designs like the walking liberty and my favorite the st gaudens $20 but it's been downhill since personally I feel the current circulating designs are just plain AWFUL!! All of them!! Is time for someone in power to take charge and make the money something we can be proud of again the bills too they've never topped the educational series of 1896
I agree that all the modern circulating coinage needs to be replaced. We also need to get away from politicians on coins. Give me the draped bust Liberty every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
I'm with you on that all day long is my favorite design and who wouldn't want to look at a pretty lady not some old dead guy lol other favorite designs that could be revived the trade dollar some of the 1860-80 patterns were fabulous the Gobrecht dollar (no stars) was very nice and I love the reverse I still like many of the early 20th c designs especially the st gaudens and maybe we could come up with some new designs that were actually good maybe have a board of numismatists vote on them instead of politicians let the people decide for once
