Buy something unnecessary (like a pack of gum), just to get back coins as change? Also, try to calculate tax to see what item gets back most change? Something that costs like $2.02. I tell the cashier "sorry, I don't have any change", even though I might. Got to be careful to not be too greedy cause sometimes the cashier rounds it off and gives me back bills only.
Sarcastic no or real no? I figured my question was rhetorical. This is a coin collecting forum. I guess maybe not though.
yes, but only when i cant get to a bank and the cashier wont sell me rolls of coins. ill buy an entire rack of 10c candy in seperate transactions to the point that they get so annoyed they sell me a few rolls of dimes just so ill leave
No would also be my response, but there seem to be plenty here that may do so. There is no right or wrong and to each his own.
My honest reply is no also, but on the humorous side, How do you walk by a fountain that is chock full of coins without getting wet
No, is the easy answer. However, I do accumulate my change into containers and sort through it. I separate out the pre-1982 cents. All nickels go into another jar. Right now, I am working on the "America the Beautiful" quarters series. Yes, I could just buy them, but what fun is that? But I do not obsess about it to the degree that Endeavor does. However, I doff my hat to him for his passion.
I carry way too much change to begin with. No...... And I don't think TomB was being sarcastic. I believe he was being honest.
I must admit that I sometimes look into the penny tray at the cash registers to see if they have something interesting. I've never taken one but I've been tempted.
If I saw a 1909-S VDB, I would offer the attendant $100 for it after a close inspection. If I saw a 1992 AM, I would need to use a life line and call Rare Tim for advice
It would never happen. The date is on the obverse and the VDB is on the reverse. If I saw the 1909, I would want it, VDB or not. What is a "close AM" that I should care ?? Yet another blah blah blah... You collectors of American Federals, mired in details because you have no history...
I'm sure that your care will grow exponentially after reading this post. http://www.cointalk.com/threads/i-just-found-a-1992-close-am.240492/
i never pay with change, whenever i buy something i always pay with bills so i always get back change... bought a burger an coke this summer came to like 4.98, got home checked my 2 cents an one was a 98 WAM
