I have $23 in state quarters that I stockpiled along with 2 rolls of BU Nickels and pre 82 pennies. Should I try to sell these to a collector or cash them in at the bank? Why?

Keep the pre-82 pennies for the heck of it. There are only a couple of really good state quarter rolls and Illinois is the best. The nickels I am not sure.

If the quarters aren't in the original wrapped rolls I wouldn't bother keeping them. I find tons of really nice quarters when I roll search. They made a zillion of them(pretty sure that is the exact number ;) ).
As for the cents, they are worth more than face due to the copper value. Not much though. I would probably dump them and use the money to search other rolls.
Probably the same with the nickels depending on the dates.

If you're at all interested, look through your quarters for the extra leaf Wisconsins, the Doubled Die Reverse D.C., and maybe some Minnesota extra tree varieties. Outside of that, I would send these back to the bank.
