Hello Obviously new to the forum and need help. I was going through my late grandfather's items I received years ago when I discovered the pictured shilling. It's been made into a tie clip. Now assuming it's not a fake (or is it?), can this coin be restored and by whom? My guess would be this is soldered to the clip part. Any idea on what this may be worth? These are the best pics I can do with a point and shoot. Thanks for your assistance.
I think this might be real. Why would someone make a replica to put on a tie clip that is double sided??? Doesn't seem to make sense. I would take it into a coin dealer and have them check it out. Just my opinion.
Why would someone destroy the value of a multi-thousand dollar coin by putting a clip on it? Plus, the details do not look right for an authentic specimen.
