Hang on guys,we are supposed to be talking about the Canadian coins with RFID tags being attached to them. Aidan.
Discovered one of those spy coins on E-Bay... http://cgi.ebay.com/Genuine-Canadia...ryZ48839QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
That is GREAT! 7 bids already! "As seen in the major newspapers, Canada has invented the ultimate spying device - a sleek little spy coin, complete with antennaes. Comes complete with tinfoil - you can always unwrap the tinfoil and use it to make a nice itty bitty hat to keep out the signals from all the other nasty coin spy signals. Guaranteed NOT to work. Used condition. Guaranteed not to transmit evil signals. May be used in Tim Horton's for a coffee or a timbit. Why settle for mediocre, high priced CIA devices when you can have the best of Canadian High Tech Surveillance Devices for so little. ONLY ONE AVAILABLE - BUY NOW BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!"
How and why they might do it is relevant. Types of technologies and how they work is relevant (i think) - the press usually gets it wrong because the people that know anything usually say nothing and are not going to go out of their way to correct people that do not understand.?. I would like to see if some of the guys I know and work with will take a blank and make one for me on the cnc machine. If I can make one I will post a picture.
Smullen,is that Canadian woman a joker,or is she fooling herself? It's up to US$16.05 for a Canadian $2 coin,a piece of masking tape,& 2 pieces of tin foil. All up,it would be worth around $2.50 . What do you think? Your views please. Aidan.
Not surprised due to the technical challenges, limited usage, and potential political fallout of getting caught. Thank you for the link and for putting another urban legend to rest! Darryl
The Yahoo newslink I took as serious... The ebay add I linked too, I took it in a joke/ in jest... I'd say, After reading the news article someone had a bit of a sense of humor and a bit of creativity and well, you got the Spycoin up for auction... (more on the humor and less on the creativity I'd say) I guess you could always outbid the other person and do a field trial and provide us with a review..
