The Cherry Picker Guide has a less than helpful diagnostic for this coin. Despite arrows to areas to check, I only see a telltale doubling at the NE of the 4 in the sample picture, so I'm not even including it here. What do you make of this? Considering how faint the doubling is, I think I may have picked one out of a recently opened coin bank that sat untouched for 35+ years (but don't have high confidence). It also appears that there's an oddly placed die crack, spiking through the NW of the 8 in the date:
There is the same type of doubling on the MM as there is on the Date. This doesn't happen as the MM are punched into the working die. Also the thickness of the device has not changed. That 8 should look a little oblong. http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1984-D.htm
