Maybe from 1999 up to the current date but NOT when the Susan B Anthony's were in Proof Sets.

    Those "cases" can be challenging.

    1973 - 1976 were a freaking nightmare!

I was wondering about that. Would a strike through add any value to the coin?

I would have to agree i don't think it is actually a scratch

Do you have any idea of how that would effect the value?

At first I was wondering if you were posting it as a potential strike-thru error. However, on further review it appears to be nothing more than a scratch. The way the light catches it and the overall shape...your best bet is it is a scratch.

If it was a strike-thru, it could dramatically impact the price. However, my impression is that it is a scratch and now damaged. =/

No way hose! It has been like that for at least 14 years of me having it. I have been watching the prices of the 81 s and finally decided to take it out of its case and check it out.

A Strikethrough error consists of just that - a foreign object disturbed the planchet of the coin during production. If your coin was a strikethrough, I don't believe it would have that shiny quality reflecting back just as a scratch would. It would be a part of the coin itself just as the portrait of Susan B. Anthony.

Also, the little area of the coin that it covers, I question as to what would be the strike through. If anything it would be a staple, but it does not seem to add up to me.

    Edit:

After reviewing the second set of pictures you just posted prior to my message, I'd bet money it is a scratch. ;)

It is up to you whether you get it graded or not, my friend. To me it would be a waste of money to do so, though.
