I wish they would have explained why that is a meaningful change.
Why don't they just come out and say "we're greedy a holes"

Kinda like credit card companies that tell you they're raising the interest rate so they can better serve you.

I really like the ebay Bucks Program, but just the other night I was wondering where the money comes from. The coins/items still sell for the same price, so they werent getting it from me, I havent heard sellers rates increasing from EBB, so it wasnt the sellers, which must mean it came from ebays money and i wondered how long it would be before this got nixed, looks like they dont want to pay it out much any more, especially to the little guys.

Hopefully they will keep the program though, I think ebay bucks are generally like 2% of your total sales (or close i believe), so you need to be buying more than $250 in a quarter to achieve even the $5 limit, which from their thinking probably means its worthwhile to spend some money on you in the form of EBB because you are a repetitive spender buying more than $250 per quarter.

At any rate, its their free money they are giving away so at the end of the day I suppose they can do as they choose to with it.

Yowsers, I just realized I mustve spent close to $3000 this quarter for the EBB i have in my account. I may have a coin buying problem

They just don't want to pay the employees to process the tens of thousands of smaller certificates, which I believe takes quite a group. I'm lucky that I usually post $50-75 a quarter in Bucks, but to drop the incentive to the smaller buyers will inhibit their company's growth.

Umm, you mean it's not done on the computer?

But seriously, eBay's creating jobs, now they're going 24/7, fast-track hiring for the 10pm to 6am shift. These are the folks that sit up nights thinking of new ways to screw eBay customers. o_O

For me, eBay is like China, and corporate America for that matter. Sometimes I have to patronize them because I can’t find the product elsewhere, but I try my darnedest to not support their greedy profits.

People are willing to spend more just for a mere 2% savings. Why should somebody who spends $249 be exempt from receiving their eBay bucks. I hope eBay changes their mind. It's this kind of stuff that makes people want to cheat eBay.

I didn't imply they were done as paper certificates silly. It's not an autonomous process, there are people behind those key boards at the end of the day. How do I know? EBay is one of my clients here in San Jose.

I have $400 in eBay bucks coming to me this quarter. I like to try and double it by buying $400 in coins that in can resell for $800! Free money!!!!

I'm getting a little over $40 back in January.... a free coin for me is coming!!

But honestly, if you have less than $5 in ebay bucks, and they expire in roughly 30 days, are you really going to lose sleep over the $.15 in eBay bucks you're no longer getting?

And not to mention they have double and quad ebay bonus days.... so if you are buying on a regular, it shouldn't be hard to do.

Everybody loves to hate ebay - wouldn't it be grand if ebay turned out to be a big psychology experiment run by NSA to profile you?

I receive the maximum allowable "Bucks" every quarter, and believe it to be a great gimmick.
eBay is a site that has many diverse items which you'd be hard pressed to locate in other venues, often at fantastic prices.
I sell on other sites, but from my experience, there isn't a site with such a large buying audience who appear quite knowledgeable about quality and pricing.
People whine about their sales prices, but I've yet to find a better average priced venue on which you can "Snipe" some great bargains.
I love the ability to advance search pricing on past item sales.

Agreed - best for 90% of collectible coins and stamps. But eBay has gone out of its way to discourage small sellers. They would like to get rid of small sellers once and for all, as evidenced by virtually mandatory PayPal, screwed-up Feedback policy, and incompetent help-staff.

I'm eager to see what Gibbons does with bidStart, but no particular news yet. I haven't put any coins on eBay in several years, but it's an ideal resource to sell picture postcards and paper memorabilia.

I make plenty of money selling on eBay. I pay them about 10% all-in-all to do all my advertising and promoting. Since they do such a good job with that, 10% is getting off cheap.
