I have been looking for star notes for the lsat 25 years of collecting.never got one until today. I cashed some checks and got $4000 in $50's. while counting them I found my first star. ek 01686801, 802, 803, 804 ,805 ,806 all 2004 excellent shape! then I found another one 1996 ag 00771311 also in excellent shape. Now do I spend them ,save them or sell them ???? any ideas if there worth more then face? Thanks,Tim
For me the $50 notes are special...while being the series 2004 and very new the premium is 10% or so...maybe less depending on condition. For me I would put them away in nice mylar sleeves and hope that my son or daughter may benifit from them one day in the future.... Nice finds..and post some pics :high5: RickieB
Wow, thats some luck there. I've never come across any $50 star notes, not yet anyway. Id have to agree with RickieB and put them away somewhere in protective sleeves, you'll be glad you did.
Really, you have to think of the demand for such notes. Not a big collector base for modern $50 star notes. I would offer them on ebay. To hoard these notes with a high face value with the potential that they will be really rare and valuable in the short term, is just wishful thinking. Unless you can afford to keep them for a 5 to 10 year+ period, I would offer them on ebay. Maybe some one will pay a premium. Otherwise........ I would spend them........
By the way, I collect $100 FRBN. Brown Seal Series of 1929. These are ridiculously RARE and ridiculously cheap. You can find VF+ examples for not much more than face value!!! $130 for a nice F-VF is easy to find!
