Good Morning and Merry Christmas everyone! My Santa got me a handsome looking 1964 proof set and a couple of older nickels. Thanks a million, this made my morning!
Isn't it just a lovely feeling when you open a package and Lady Morgan is staring back at you?...Cause that's what happened to me when I opened my package!! This is my second 1921, the other given to me by my Grandpa years ago. While this one will not reach the sentimental value as the first it will be placed as the 2nd centerpiece of my collection and not because of monetary value, but because someone who has no idea who I am was good enough to entrust her care to me! Thank you SS!!
Caz Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry Christmas to all and each members family's too! This is my 57th year collecting coins yes I was bitten by the bug that Christmas 1956
Worth the wait... The care with which my gift was packaged was the best. Very thoughtful. Great coins - including a generous 2013 ASE! The loupe and COINage round out this Great Secret Santa gift. Thank You SS! Merry Christmas to all of CoinTalk.
See what Santa brought me? The birth year coins and Canadian are fantastic, the cud and sample slab are neato, the candy is tasty and the half dime is divine......... a first for me. Thanks secret Santa!
Dear Santa, I know I haven't been as good a girl as you must have thought I was! You outdid yourself and I am humbled and thankful! I did wait until my feet hit the floor this morning, but I can say honestly, I ripped my package open! Like a kid! Ha ha! What fun! How did you know that the box alone would make me tear up! A soap box, and I make soap! How cool is that! Later today I will pst a picture, because there is no way I could just SAY what I received..my mind is blown away! Merriest Christmas Santa, and everyone here at CoinTalk. And may I continue to remember the "reason for the season". God bless us, every one.. Lucy
Here is a photo. I apologize in advance to Santa for the quality of the photo. It doesn't do justice but it's an idea for you all to take a peek at. See why I'm so overwhelmed? Where do I begin? I've got to look at everything here..Wowee! I'll post back with more photos as I figure this all out! Wow!
these are the 6 Canadian Large Cents that my Secret Santa sent! (Try saying that 3 times fast!) thank you! I recently bought my first Canadian Large Cent and I don't know if SS knew that, but they're something that has intrigued me for some time. Thanks again to Cannyn for setting this up again! I will be posting photos of the very generous gift I received from my Secret Santa later today. He was so generous I feel the need to "out" him and will do so when the images are posted. Thank you very much Santa!!
Alright, forgive the pictures but here is what my very generous secret Santa brought me this year: Who doesn't love dimes? A pastel toned nickle, which I am afraid I didn't quite capture: The only errors in my collection, so I will treasure them deeply: A silver certificate: no idea what a silver certificate is, but time to learn! And my absolute favorite of the bunch: a 2 cent piece. It's now my one and only in the collection: The great thing about the Secret Santa is that I learn what others can or have appreciated and to diversify my tastes. I have no idea about paper currency and never pursued errors or 2 cent pieces, but now I have just a little glimpse into those worlds. Thanks again for a wonderful year.
A silver certificate is a note (back in olden times) that was backed by a dollars worth of silver, You could stroll into a bank with one and stroll out with a nice Morgan in exchange..........
Yours is a star note which adds a little extra value over one with out the star you can find info about star notes herehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replacement_banknote
