As a welcome to the "dark side", @lordmarcovan sent me a coin (thank you so much, Rob!!). This is the thread he started when the coin was his:

Now the coin is in my collection.

This rabbit hole that I've fallen into is going to be a lot of fun! I had to google Sigsimund the Old once I got this coin from Rob and read every thing that I could find about him.

My bloodline is half Bohemian so now I've been looking for coinage of that area/time. I actually bid on a few on Heritage but lost both. I'll keep looking and add something to the collection soon I suspect.

When one thinks about it, if you're collecting US coinage only you are limiting yourself to 1793 to present. 230 tiny years!

Isn't it interesting how that very thing seems to happen?

I do have patience though and will not just buy any old thing. The two Bohemian coins that just went on Heritage were very nice pieces. One of them went for over $500 with the BP.

Nice coin and welcome to coinage of Central Europe, a region rich in history and coinage.

Here's one of my thalers from Bohemia, a proud coin, with the Bohemian lion on the reverse.

Louis I, Bohemia, Schlick, AR thaler, 1526.

Fantastic coin, @robinjojo ! Something like that is out of my reach, I’m sure.
