I do tip because of the frequency he deliveries currency to me. He was also instrumental in a claim I filed with eBay several years ago. I gave $20. What are the thoughts of other CT members?

Mine tends to deliver my boxes to someone elses address several blocks away. The only I tip I have for him is to learn to read.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

USPS policy, they cannot accept cash or gift certificates; they cannot accept anything valued at more that $20.

But we all know that what the boss doesn't know can't hurt him.
Wink, wink. Nudge nudge. Know what I mean? Know what I mean?

My local PO and rural carrier frequently lose track of my packages for a couple days (verified by tracking), don't bother driving up my road some days(>10% - verified by security cams), miss picking up packages for not stopping when the flag is up(>10% verified by cams), then I go days with no mail only to get a big load all at once coincidentally after every dry spell. I frequently get mail with very stale post marks. My mail frequently gets delivered to the neighbors in both directions along the route (the more important the mail is the more likely this is), and my stuff frequently comes damaged or opened (ditto), not to mention that things I send get broken (>20% of fragiles - no matter how you package them, just add that fragile sticker and game on).

I kid you not, this place is like the duck dynasty.

    How much should I tip?

If your post marks have gone stale, try refrigerating them...it should keep them fresh a little bit longer. :D

I worked on a farm for many years when I was 10-18, and each year they tipped the garbage men and the mailman, among others. I always thought that was a classy thing to do.

Of course, now that I own a house, I feel that I am too poor to do the same.

I do buy my kids teachers and bus drivers a pound of Starbucks coffee each Christmas.

That doesn't even work for bread, in fact quite the opposite is true. Carry on.

I tip mine a case of beer and twenty bucks, but he lives two doors down from me and comes by to share the beer. When he get off of course...

My femailman delivered a package yesterday(Sunday) and another at 6:45 a.m. this morning. Always give me a smile and a wave when ever she sees me. Anyone who has to drive a vehicle with the steering wheel on the wrong side deserves a tip. Noticed lately that my newspaper is being tossed closer to the front door and not across the yard. Maybe she got a new pair of glasses.

I give our regular mail carrier a small box of homemade cookies.

I give mine a Christmas gift with a Starbuck's card and a few odd and ends. She gave me her work cell phone number to use whenever I get a pick up slip and she is still on the route. She hustles back with the package on her way back to the PO.

Sounds to me like your postman/woman hasn't earned a tip.
If I were you I wouldn't give them anything they don't deserve.

Yep, and it doesen't have to be that much even. After I started giving my carrier a box of chocolates every year she started bringing packages that were too large for the mailbox, and ones that needed signed for, to my door. I used to get a card that said I had to pick them up at the PO.

I used to tip with wine. That has now ceased.

i never tip anyone for any reason. however, my mailman is a really nice guy and i would not mind tipping him $20.00, if i could afford to.
