I have a set that's within two coins of completion. There are probably several reasons the two are hard to find. And I've gotten tired of waiting for them to show up on eBay. Heritage and Stacks are no better. SO I went to the Internet and I found one of them. And of all places on Amazon. I've paid for it; now the waiting begins. Hope it's good in hand. Can't be too bad; it's in an NGC slab. Anyone have good or bad experiences buy coins from Amazon?
I'm doing a matched set of silver Roosevelt dimes (1946-1964). They will all be MS-66 FT in NGC or PCGS holders (I do NGC Registry Sets). The one I just picked up on Amazon is a 1949. That just leaves a 1961 to get.
I suspect many sellers are tired of eBay and its policies so they are jumping ship. Just took them a while to find an appropriate place to jump to.
Very glad to hear that not on ebay for any reason for those exact reasons I'll have to check that out
How you search on amazon for coins any specific category and they got any way to keep those cursed Chinese fakes offa there?
Huh, never thought they would be on there. Speaking of interesting places to find coins, I was surprised to find quite a few on Etsy which is known more as a craft site (although they were all raw and over priced to me.)
There's plenty of coins sold on Amazon, albeit through marketplace sellers. The plus is you're covered by Amazons A-Z guarantee on your purchase if anything happens to go wrong.
Amazon was around and selling coins before ebay. Years ago the two companies were each others primary competition in the field. Back them Amazon sold a whole lot more coins than they do today. But eventually ebay edged Amazon out and became the public favorite in regard to coins. And yes I bought many coins from them, never had a problem. But that was so long ago that it doesn't even matter.
Well I checked it out. Is anyone else concerned that these nice CAC coins are listed under "Toys & Games"? Well at least they fall under a subcategory of "Toys & Games" called hobbies. But this might help explain why eBay took over for the most part.
No, it was a fees battle. Amazon used to have just as many categories as ebay did back then. But they sell so few coins today they don't bother with them anymore. Now they list them under Collectibles and Fine Art.
