Large cent appreciation page

Does anybody else REALLY like the large cent? It's become one of my favorite coins of all time. Here is my humble example (It looks better in person):

I guess you could call me a fan of early copper.

 

Love em was one of the first things I collected and still do a couple faves

 

count me in on being a large cent guy.

 

Originally I was only interested in large cents for my type set (still need one more).
But when I was looking around for another set to start I spotted the Braided Hair large cents.
Short set but with some interesting variations.
At the moment I'm only getting Red Book listed varieties.
But I've got Grellman's book so that interest could expand.

 

Me I need 2 more the chain and 93 liberty cap

 

Unless I've messed up on my inventory again I only need the two 1793 Flowing Hair types (Chain and Wreath).

 

I like many people consider the 93 liberty cap. A seperate type got the wreath would love to upgrade it but the chain is no 1 on my want list now I got my flowing hair dollar

 

Large (and half) cents, specially pre-1816 dates, are a numismatic focus area for me. I really enjoy the early dates and the various varieties.
I am 'only' missing the 1799 end the 1793 Liberty Cap to be complete.
Judging by the current prices for '93 Caps, that is probably the way it will stay for a while.

 

A focus of mine too very nice!! I'm not nearly that compete I need a chain and 93 cap a 1796 both types a 99 a1804. 1805 and several of the classic heads and could use a few upgrades too

 

I completed my Classic Head half cent set earlier this year.
And I'm talking only Red Book listed varieties.
The 1809 "o in O" was my last one.
It was MUCH harder to find than the two 1811's.

 

Been collecting the early dates for almost 30 years now. The Draped Bust are my favorites and I have 184 of the 187 Sheldon numbered varieties plus four of the NC varieties. Still need the S-1 to have all of the S# Chain cent varieties.

 

I have one or two laying around somewhere.

 

I suppose they don't break out the 1793 Liberty Cap, but they ought to. The 93s used round beads instead of the dentils on the borders. It's about as obvious as the stars/no stars varieties in other series.

I consider it a seperate type myself both the beaded edge and the bust portrait are totally different

 

2013 was a slow year for me concerning additions to my federal copper collection.
I only found these 3 during the year: 1803 S-265, 1806, and 1821.

I did find some interesting colonials, though (Rhode Island Token, and a nice VT Bust 1787).

Lets see what 2014 brings.
