Excited for the new 2014 ASE's coming soon! Anyone pre-ordering? What is the best prices out there? I found a few for about $24 per coin if I order between 2-4. Thoughts?
I just saw on E-Bay a pre-sale for the 2014 ASE for $ 34.00. Your price sounds much better. I thought I read somewhere (Probably on CT) that it was not allowed to list a re-sale item on E-Bay. Dave
Where did you find it for $24 per coin? If you sign up to get one automatically from the US mint, they charge $43 per coin. Why so high there? The clad proof sets are more respectable at $34.
Isn't the $43 price you quote for a proof with a box? I think OP is talking about plain bullion ASEs....
The 'collector' Eagles go for a substantial premium at the mint website as opposed to the bullion examples. Such a lot for a 'W' stamped upon the coin, yet we continue to flock and purchase. BTW, I hear tell that the 2013 examples have been sold out there.......
Makes sense. I just checked and the price is actually $48.95 and yes, it is the W mint mark (non-proof). Don't they sell the normal plain bullion ASE at usmint.gov?
There are typically 3 coins offered in each year since 2006. The exceptions are the anniversary sets. 1) Bullion coin: no mint mark. Sold only to master bullion houses. They work there way down the food chain 2) Burnished Brilliant Uncirculated offered by the U.S. Mint. It's a special planchet and coin has a mint mark. It's difficult to tell this coin from the bullion coin. 3) Proof Coin. Sold by U.S. Mint
Wait until New Year's to get them already slabbed from the TV coin guy...may also come with a red oak presentation box.
Better yet, buy them from HSN in an ANACS holder and pay 50% premium! Disclaimer: I like the ASE and buy them in bullion, burnished and proof form.
Didn't this happen when the 25th Anniversary Set came out? With a one per family limit, they were on eBay with no limits for pre-sale. Not positive, however. Those were a limited special edition while the 2014 bullion eagle is not.
It's going to look exactly like all the previous bullion coins but with a different date! Edit to add: I'm not aware of any special set for 2014. I think the public is getting tired of the anniversary sets anyway.
