I'm usually not a variety collector, but I do enjoy adding one to my collection of Jeffersons now and then.

Here's a really nice one I picked up recently:

    1940-S/S (south)

This coin is very lightly toned, and virtually mark free. It's not quite a full strike, on the obverse, and the reverse just misses having 5 full steps.

The obverse has a die crack in the hair that runs from near the top of the head towards the back, in a downward curving pattern.
There is also, either a die scratch, or another die crack, on the bottom of the shoulder, parallel to the truncation.

The reverse has what appear to be two vertical die gouges just below and right of the far left window.
There are also two tiny die chips, in the field, at 2:00 o'clock.

Here's a close-up, of the RPM, taken from Jason's website:

    S/S RPM

    Any comments are welcome.

A very nice buy! Although not super rare I think that RPM has a particularly nice, easy to see spread on a great early date to boot. Nice coin!
