Weird "comet streaks" in Proof Set???

I bought an old 1971 proof set just for the heck of it (my birth year). Upon closer examination, I noticed a weird streak next to each coin on the little insert thing the coins rest in (not on the coins themselves). There was one stripe, like a comet tail almost, next to each coin coming from a different direction.

It made me think this had something to do with a machine or something that inserts the coins into the liner back in those days? Drags the coins along and pops them in there? Anyone else ever notice this phenomenon or am I just crazy?

I think I know what you are talking aboutm in which case it is from the moulding process of the plastic.

Is it in the plastic (case)?
Probably from the insertion of the coins, or possibly pressure from storage.
Post a picture, if you can.
