Hey guys i have a coin i have discovered as the "cartwheel twopence" . It is from 1797 and has a picture of caesar i think and a lady with a spear on the other side. If you have any information about price, or history please tell me here thanks.
Dudlight, the Cartwheel 2d. is a very large piece. An unworn one weighs 2 ounces, which is why it & the 1d. were used as weights by some people. The Cartwheel coinage was struck at the Soho Mint in Birmingham. The mintname 'SOHO' is located behind Britannia's shield at the bottom right. Aidan.
I suspect that is the first time that Mad King George III has been identified as Ceasar! The lady on the other side is Britannia, the allegorical symbol of Great Britain. We would have to see a picture to try placing a value on it, as they catalog at anywhere from a few bucks to a few hundred, depending on grade.
