Thank you and good luck with your Bay Bridget submission. I have a PCGS VG10 Bay Bridge that is one of my favorite coins.

Most of my coins have come from ebay (raw), or contacts on other forums. It took many years of searching to find these coins. Good luck on the pursuit.

LoL. Whenever I acquire a new 'unsearched' roll on Ebay I often find it full of PO1 coins. I am pleased to see a PO1 grade, but doubt I would intentionally purchase one (much less spend the money to submit it). A possible exception may exist for the day I find a provable 1909S VDB, or an aunt leaves me a PO1 1804 silver dollar, but beyond that...

Alternatively, I toy sometimes with submitting one of my standing liberty quarters, which I just can't tell if they are a 16 or a 17. For it, we perhaps need a grade lower than PO1.

I wonder if it would return as just 'genuine' or would they at least identify it as '16 or 17 undetermined'? Clearly, electron flow measuring would be needed as well as possibly a VP designation. Call it vp-2? I have a bunch of such in that type whose melt value doesn't justify the cost of slabbing.

Not a lot of coins I'd want in poor or fair but a half disme a small eagle half a 1793 liberty cap or a chain and quite a few colonials like a higley copper I'd take in any grade

Would love to see your Bay Bridge in VG-10.

I have them in the following: PCGS MS-66 (red toned), 2 x PCGS MS-65, PCGS MS-64 (red-olive toned), NGC MS-63 (rainbow toned rim), SEGS AU-55 (black toned obverse), SEGS AU-50, PCGS XF-45, and 2 different Autographed coins by the designer out of 1000, #51/1000 and another one in the mid 500 area. I have another 4 to be graded.

I wish I won this low ball months ago on Ebay. It sold for $100 plus shipping. See picture above.

There's easy ways to identify the coveted 1916 Liberty Standing 1/4.

You guys sure do have some crappy coins. And yet, there's something curiously compelling and attractive about them.

So is the one pictured a Type 1 1916 or is it a Type 1 1917?

Personally I like liberty nickels and barber coins worn flat no idea why but to me their about the same in attractiveness in fr-2 as ms 62

It's because they're worn, which gives them an old spooky mystical scary ghostly atmosphere. It's embers of history, kind of like looking at ruins littered along the Mediterranean Coast.

I think you're right. It's why I'm drawn to ancients. I particularly like your Bay Bridge - it's as if the fog was lingering in the bay.

Exactly what I was thinking! The wear looks like fog in the Bay. Regretfully I do not own this specimen.

If this coin were to grade do you think it would be AG-03 or FR-02?

I have no idea. I've completely lost interest in what TPG's think.

There are die markers present on the 1916 vs the 1917 that can distinguish the two even if the date isn't present. I assume they would date and grade the coin accordingly.

You posted a picture of a 1917 standing liberty Type 1 quarter. For 1917, the beading continues above the head, which nails it right there. Also, the fold at the bottom of the gown curves up parallel to the leg instead of continuing towards it; the second curl of hair is clearly visible and rather straight looking; and the cloth curves around to her hand 1917 style.
